On our 15 Anniversary, please join us for our first ever black-tie gala celebration in support of education excellence in Lawrence Township public schools. After 15 years we have much to celebrate. Many outstanding volunteers, grantees, and charitable donors have worked hard on behalf of the children of Lawrence Township. We want to pause and honor their achievements, even as we look forward to then next 15 years.

Our Honorees

We are pleased to honor two founding members of the Education Foundation. These former trustees and their companies have been true Friends of the Foundation since 1992.

Dan Haggerty was one of the founders of LTEF in 1992. Along with ETS President Greg Anrig and LTPS Superintendent of Schools Barry Gleim, Dan brought together community volunteers who shared his interest in working on behalf of Lawrence’s public schools by bringing resources for special programming. Dan served as LTEF’s first president and remains a touchstone for the organization today.

Conrad Druker was a founding member of the education foundation and was instrumental in organizing the fledgling group’s finances and ensuring its future success as a fundraising non-profit. Conrad served as LTEF’s first treasurer and continues to provide pro bono accounting services for the foundation.

Sponsorship Opportunites

LTEF Gala April 12, 2008Sponsorship and ad book opportunities are still available - see attached sponsorship form for sponsor levels, ads, and listings.

With the reduction of state aid, ever-tighter school budgets, and increasing pressure for student achievement, our schools and educators need greater community support than ever before. Our schools are striving to reach new heights and the supporters and volunteers of LTEF are committed to bring resources to that effort. We thank you in advance for your support.

A Preview of the Evening

6:00pm - VIP Reception along Walk of Fame
6:30pm - Cocktail Hour in Rick's Cafe
7:45pm - Dinner in the Brown Derby
9:30pm - Dancing at the Palms
Valet Parking 5:30pm-Midnight

ArrivalAs you arrive at what looks like the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, you will be treated like a true Hollywood celebrity with paparazzi, valet parking and the red carpet. Look for Joan Rivers and other celebrities as you start what appears to be an Oscar award winning evening.

ReceptionIn the reception area you will recognize the movie greats in person and on posters, as you sip champagne and stride along the LTEF Walk of Fame where emblazoned stars acknowledge the great supporting cast behind LTEF's success. Pick-up a program, check your coat, and join the celebration.

CocktailsCocktails will be served in Rick's Café Americain straight out of Casablanca in Morocco. You'll recognize the entrance and décor and will embark on a Hollywood trivia challenge with clues to be found all around you as you meet your fellow guests, interact with celebrities, and bid on silent auction items. Sam will be playing the piano, of course, and "Key ladies," reminiscent of the "cigarette girls of past," will entice you to purchase piano keys in support of the Grand Piano project for our high school. Before leaving Rick's, be sure to have your photo taken to recall the evening and your celebrity encounters.

DinnerA seated dinner will be served upstairs at the Brown Derby Restaurant. During your Hollywood-inspired meal, we will recognize our honorees and supporters and listen to a live string ensemble. Watch out for the caricature artist who may just memorialize your salient features on canvas.

DancingAfter dinner and dessert, we will gather for a choral performance in the Palms nightclub, where guests will have a chance to place final bids on silent auctions items, order a drink and discover whether their participation in the trivia or piano key contest has made them a grand prize winner. Dancing will follow with the music of a live band whose repertoire includes famous movie theme songs along with your favorite dancing music.

DepartureFinally, as you depart for the evening, we have a thank-you gift from some of our sponsors for all you have done to help us strive for excellence in public school education. Hurray for Hollywood!
