The Education Foundation is always looking for talented community volunteers to help achieve the LTEF mission.

This spring, two long-time trustees are leaving the Foundation Board of Trustees. After ten years of service each, Jim Ham and Rick Babick are leaving the board. Jim served as treasurer for the group, a position that will be held by Howard Azer next year. Rick Babick served as president of LTEF from 1999-2001 and most recently spearheaded the organization's solicitation of corporate gifts.

Joining the foundation board this spring are Carla Cheifetz, Patricia "Pepper" Evans, Jennifer Gerlach, Bruce McGraw and Romy Toussaint.

Ms. Cheifetz is an Assistant Vice President of Sovereign Bank whose two children attend the Lawrence Schools. She has been involved in school PTO organizations and has volunteered as an Odyssey of the Mind coach.

Pepper Evans also has two children in Lawrence Schools and will be serving as Eldridge Park PTO president next year as well as volunteering with LTEF.

Jennifer Gerlach brings the perspective of a recently retired teacher to the Foundation board. Jennifer was a recipient of two LTEF grants during her 15 year teaching career as an Elementary Art Teacher at Eldridge Park School and LIS.

Bruce McGraw returns to the foundation after a one-year absence. He served for eleven years an an ex-officio member in his capacity as Assistant Superintendent of Lawrence schools. Dr. McGraw now joins the foundation as a community volunteer and voting member.

Ms. Toussaint's children attend Lawrence schools and she looks forward to working with the LTEF to foster excellence, creativity and achievement in those schools.
