Local Attorney to Serve as Campaign Chair for 2004 LTEF Campaign
The Lawrence Township Education Foundation's annual community fundraising drive will launch in February, 2004, and local attorney Dan Haggerty has agreed to serve as the campaign chair for the Friends of the Foundation 2004 initiative. In 1992, Mr. Haggerty, a township resident and parent of children in the Lawrence schools, joined forces with ETS president Greg Anrig and Lawrence school superintendent Barry Gleim to form the Lawrence Township Education Foundation. After 10 years on the LTEF Board of Trustees, Mr. Haggerty left the board in 2001 but continues to support the group's mission. He is urging all community members to join the LTEF to provide financial support to help teachers and school administrators give the township's children the best possible education and to empower and enable Lawrence teachers to be creative. The LTEF has contributed over $1.2 million to Lawrence Township public schools since its inception in 1992, with over 200 programs having benefited the township's school children. As noted by Lawrence Superintendent of Schools Max Riley, "The LTEF is a powerful contributor, year after year, to the education of Lawrence Township children. Because the Foundation enjoys strong credibility within the ranks of Lawrence educators, teachers see this hard-working group of volunteers as partners in the process of improving our schools and student learning. Teachers and administrators alike look to the LTEF for help and support to do those many extra things for students that make Lawrence Schools such a great place to learn." Community members can become a Friend of the Foundation by watching for the LTEF's mailing in February and sending in a donation, by visiting the website at wwwl.ltefnj.org to donate online or by designating the LTEF to receive their United Way contribution. The Lawrence Township Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that fosters educational excellence, creativity and achievement in the Lawrence Township Public Schools.
